The Weeknd Cancels Gig After Losing Voice
Los Angeles fans are feeling let down after The Weeknd had to suddenly cancel a concert on Saturday night, 3 September, due to his voice failing mid-performance.
The 32-year-old “Take My Breath” hitmaker – real name Abel Tesfaye – was three songs into his sold-out show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California when his voice started giving out half-way through his track “Can’t Feel My Face”.
A fan captured the moment on video as Tesfaye awkwardly left the stage, but as the next song started playing, the music cut and the lights illuminated a bewildered 70 000-strong crowd.
He returned to the stage to offer an emotional explanation while saying, “I can’t give you what I want to give you … I’m going to make sure everyone is good, you’ll get your money back.”
Tesfaye took to Twitter later that evening to share his “deepest apologies” and promised a replacement show as part of his “After Hours til Dawn” tour, which had been postponed previously twice due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
